The first marriages in history were performed in ancient Egypt by the clergy (hemu) of Pr Ntr Kmt (the ancient Egyptian religion). Most of the moern wedding traditions are from ancient Egypt.
The wedding ring was originally made by weaving hemp into a circle. The wedding ring represented that the combination of the couple and the divine made a complete circle. Hemp was related to such important ancient Egyptian deities as Isis, Bast, Seshat, and Osiris. Because hemp wedding rings wore out and had to be replaced every few years the Romans switched to iron rings. Europeans switched from iron rings to gold rings. Around 3,000 B.C.E. the Egyptian phrase without beginning, without end came into common usage for describing the wedding ring.
Bridemaids and brides wore similiar dresses in order to confuse evil spirits. The original wedding bouquets were made of thyme and garlic to keep evil spirits away.
An ancient Egyptian wedding vow: I Prince Yami, son of Pharaoh Akunadmun, take thee Nyla, to be my wife, and my queen, to share the good times and hard times side by side. I humbly give you my hand and my heart as I pledge my faith and love to you. Just as this ring I give you today is a circle without end, my love for you is eternal. Just as it is made of incorruptible substance, my commitment to you will never fail. With this ring, I thee wed.
Two wedding readings from ancient Egypt:
Whenever I Leave You
from the Harris Papyrus, 500 Song Cycle 2, 15th Century BCE, Egypt.
Whenever I leave you, I go out of breath
Death must be lonely like I am
I dream lying dreams of your love lost
And my heart stands still inside me
I stare at my favorite datecakes
They would be salt to me now
And pomegranate wine, once sweet to our lips
Bitter, bitter as birdgall
Touching noses with you, love, your kiss alone
And my stuttering heart speaks clear
Breathe me more of your breath, let me live!
Woman, meant for me!
The Goddess herself gave you as Her Holy gift
My love to outlast forever
Let My Love Love Me Best
from the Turin Papyrus, in the Ramesside period circa 1100 BCE, Egypt.
Let my love love me best and I shall ordain
Her hands full of lotus blossoms and flowers
Full of buds and perfumes, strong ale
And beer of every brewable kind
Then shell give me, her love, a day to remember
Make me drink down this day to its last shadow
gay and lesbian marriage
Pr Ntr Kmt offers an official marriage wedding certificate that commemorates a gay or lesbian wedding.

Our religion has been conducting lesbian marriages for more than 6,000 years!!!
gay and lesbian marriages in California
Because of the decision by the California Supreme Court, California recognizes and performs gay and lesbian marriages as of Tuesday, June 17, 2008 (selected counties performed special ceremonial gay and lesbian weddings at 5:01 p.m. June 16th in a competition to be first).
California has no residency or citizenship requirements, so any persons 18 or older can be legally married in California. Because of the full faith clause of the U.S. Constitution, any legal marriage in California must be recognized by any other state in the U.S. (although some states may fight this and you may need a lawyer to enforce your rights). [Note that gay and lesbian rights leaders are urging no lawsuits until gay and lesbian marriages are legalized in several additional states. This is because federal courts are very conservative and they want to avoid such famous travesties as the U.S. Supreme Court decisions as the Dred Scott decision denying freedom to Black slaves, the Slaughter House cases ruling that states can deny any right to their own citizens, the Plessy v. Ferguson decision creating the seperate but equal doctrine, and Korematsu v. U.S. authorizing the World War II internment of Japanese-Americans.]
The couple must both appear in person at a California county clerk (or clerk-recorder) office to apply for a marriage license, which is issued on the spot. The marriage license is good for 90 days from the date if issuance in the county of issuance. There are no citizenship or residency requirements. There is no requirement for a blood test. Couples may submit an application for a marriage license online and make an appointment to appear in person for issuance. Appointments are accepted but not required. Both members of the couple must appear at the office in person (although American servicepersons serving oversees in a war or conflict can have an attorney-in-fact appear in their place (see Power of Attorney Form and Information Sheet). Both members of the couple must present one form of a valid non-expired photo identification each (drivers license or passport).
The fee for a license and certificate of marriage from the Orange County Clerk-Recorder Office is $61.50. County officials will perform a civil marriage ceremony for an additional $28.00. The Orange County Clerk-Recorder Office is located in the Old Orange County Courthouse at 211 West Santa Ana Blvd., Santa Ana, California 92701 (east of the downtown Santa Ana / Civic Center area). Hours for marriage services are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays.
If you obtain your marriage license in Orange County, an official from Pr Ntr Kmt can perform your marriage and provide you with a full color marriage certificate from the church. Contact 949-566-0001 to book a Pr Ntr Kmt clergy member to perform your wedding in Orange County. This applies to heterosexual, gay, and lesbian marriages. You must book your own location for the wedding ceremony.
Pr Ntr Kmt clergy are authorized to perform religious marriages, including gay and lesbian marriages, anywhere in the world. These religious marriages may or may not also be legal marriages. Pr Ntr Kmt clergy in both California and Massachusettes can perform legal gay and lesbian marriages.
history of marriage
(started with lesbian marriage)
The first known marriages occurred in ancient Egypt. There had been human mating, similar to English common law marriage, long before there were official weddings.
The first marriages were public religious ceremonies commemorating the union of the Egyptian Goddesses Bast and Sekhmet in the creation myth of the Cosmic Orgasm. The high priestess of Bast and the high priestess of Sekhmet took on the roles of their respective Goddesses for the public festivities.
This first marriage ceremony was widely popular. Other temples in ancient Egypt copied the idea, with grand public marriage ceremonies for their favoried deities (most commonly male/female couples).
Over time these religious reactments became the model for religious ceremonies marking the marriages of important leaders. Nomarchs (the women elected to lead the pre-Pharaonic Nomes, or states, of ancient Egypt) had weddings. With the rise of Pharaohs, the wedding ceremonies passed from the Nomarchs to the Pharaohs and their familes and other important government officials. Remember that the religion and goverment were officially combined under the rule of the Pharaohs.
Eventually wedding ceremony spread from a religious celebration of divine unions to a religious celebration of human unions sanctified by the divine.
This was the origin of marriage and weddings.
And the first version was specifically lesbian.
While heterosexual marriage was the most common form in ancient Egypt, gay and lesbian marriages continued until outlawed by Christians.

This official certificate is a beautiful work of art that you can frame and display proudly to your family and friends. Created by the artist MichaelM (most famous for his artwork for the Marley family, his banners for hemp/cannabis relegalization, his goddess charcoal drawings, and his hypervue paintings).
Pr Ntr Kmt offers certificates for gay and lesbian couples who desire a real religious wedding and marriages. Gay and lesbian marriages are legal and religious in California and Massachusetts, religious only elsewhere in the U.S. Note that gays and lesbians from any state can travel to California for a legal and religious marriage.
A gay or lesbian couple may marry themselves, find a local clergy member willing to perform a ceremony, or find a local friend who will perform the ceremony.
Your friend can separately obtain a certificate to become an official member of the Pr Ntr Kmt clergy prior to performing your wedding ceremony.
Note that it is a legal question as to whether your state or other local government will recognize your religious rights. Consult a local lawyer regarding the possibilities of registering your marriage with your local government.
Regardless of whether or not your local government recognizes your marriage, this is a real religious marriage sanctified by the divine of ancient Egypt.
We will be adding additional information on how to perform authentic ancient Egyptian marriages soon.
And the Pr Ntr Kmt marriages are not limited to just gays and lesbians. Heterosexual couples can also obtain Pr Ntr Kmt marriage certificates.
